This masculine quilt combines fabric from Northcott's Shapin' Up Collection with a simple pattern to striking effect. The kit contains all the fabric (excluding the backing) and the pattern to make a 67" x 84" quilt. Wouldn't this be great for a University Aged Boy?

Nifty New Notion - The Gypsy Cutting Gizmo

From the same folks that brought you the Gypsy Sit Upon and the Gypsy Gripper, the Gizmo is the extra hand you always need when separating chain-pieced segments of your quilt tops. I t stands steady on your table, allowing you to safely cut chained pieces by holding the fabric with both hands and slipping the chain into the slot on top of the Gizmo.

Hot and Cold - A Pair of New Groupings

We have a couple of new groupings up online. The first is totally "hot" if you love fashion forward fabric - it combines flowers, butterflies and dots (my fave!) in a hot green and warm brown colorway. It is called Freebird by Momo for Moda and is only $9.99/metre.

If that one is too "hot" for you to handle why not cool of with this collection of icy blue stone textures from Northcott? Glacier is the latest collection of Stonehenge fabrics and they are only $12.99/metre.

Show and Share...You Won't Believe It!

About a year and a half ago Cheryl Smith of Magpie Artworks_taught a class at the shop called Cross Stitch into Quilting.

Cheryl had made a quilt called Aquarius that was absolutely breathtaking. It is a translation from Julie Hasler's cross stitch book titled, Fantasy Cross Stitch. Ten thousand 1-inch squares were mounted onto a commercial fusible grid prior to sewing the horizontal and vertical rows. Each square is subsequently stitched by hand using Perl Cotton. Please click here to see more detailed pictures of the quilt: Aquarius.

One of Cheryl's students, Rebecca Sham, brought in her quilt that was made as a result of the workshop. Rebecca's quilt has 30,000 1-inch squares! Rebecca is a fairly new quilter but is tenacious and not afraid to take on a huge challenge. The result is the most amazing quilt I have seen in a long time! Don't you agree?
This quilt is made of 30,000 0.5" finished squares! Close up of the tiger's eye.

Close up of the nose!
